The Phenomenon of Virtual Pilgrimage and Its Prospects
How do traditional forms of pilgrimage change when religious experience enters the digital world?
My latest co-authored study, published in Religions, explores virtual pilgrimage as an emerging form of religious practice and examines the relationship between digital participation, spirituality, physical presence and community.
The study considers whether virtual pilgrimage can become a meaningful complement to physical pilgrimage — particularly when travel or physical participation is not possible — while recognising the enduring importance of embodied and communal religious experience.
